“DISCOVERING THE WILL OF GOD”

Romans 12: 1 – 2

Presented by Pastor David Graves

GENERAL INSIGHTS

1. God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives (and for our churches)

2.  "You will be able..."                God wants us to know His will probably more than we want to know it, “So we will be able  to prove what is…”

3.  God's will is "prove-able.”          Paul lists three measurable qualities of the will of God:

  1. Is it "good?"
  2. Is it "well-pleasing?"
  3. Is it in line with the goal of “perfection?”  (maturing, finishing, completing, etc.)

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS

  1. PRESENT your bodies a LIVING  sacrifice.
    1. What does it mean to “present?”
    2.  What are we instructed to “present” to God?
    3.  Why is that significant?
      1. 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20
      2. Romans 6: 11-18

    1. How is our sacrifice  described?
      1. Living
      2. Holy
      3. Well pleasing to God

2.  DON’T CONFORM to this world.

            a.        Conformity?  What is it?  What does it mean?

B.           An exhortation and our response:

                   Other  Scriptures:

  1. 1 John 2:  15-17
  2. Colossians 3: 1-3
  3. Philppians 3: 20
  4. Matthew 6: 19-20

C.           How does “world conformity” impact ability to discover the will of God?

Note:  It IS God’s will for us to be “non-conforming” to this world.

3.  Be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
